Are Indonesia still the agrarian country ?

Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) and 3 other country (China, Korea and Japan) agree to prepare back-up stock of rice about 720.000 ton for the emergency situation if sometime the community needed food. Indonesia, the large country in east asia with one of the dense population only can provide 14.000 ton. China, Japan and Korea even can provide above 200.000 ton.

This situation is very ironic, with the large area from sabang until merauke and the fertile soil, Indonesia can’t to supply more than 14.000 ton, otherwise rice import of Indonesia this year is almost 2 million ton.

Wow, this is the picture with the large area and fertile soil but still must import rice for the consumption….where is the agrarian country that said in the school book ?
